When the homeowners were ready to remodel the main level of their home, they knew exactly who to call. After previously trusting Waal Construction to finish their basement with two bedrooms, a full bathroom, and a spacious family room, they invited us back to transform approximately 550 square feet of kitchen, dining, and office space.
The result is a bright, functional kitchen centered around a 3' x 10' quartz island, surrounded by custom cabinetry, thoughtful storage solutions, and finishes that completely changed the feel of their home—all without adding a single square foot.

The original kitchen featured oak cabinetry, laminate countertops, aging flooring, and a layout that had become outdated for the way the homeowners wanted to live. While the space functioned well enough, it lacked storage, workspace, and the open feel they envisioned.
Rather than building an addition, the goal was to maximize the home's existing footprint through better design. Careful planning allowed us to completely transform the kitchen while improving the adjoining dining room and office, proving that a dramatic remodel doesn't require more square footage.

One of the best features of this remodel wasn't part of the original plan.
The homeowners assumed there wasn't enough room along one wall for additional cabinetry. After studying the space, we realized that using shallower cabinets and countertops would allow us to create an entire pantry wall with a dedicated coffee bar. The added storage blends naturally into the room while giving the family significantly more usable cabinet space.
Another memorable design decision was the wall color. The cabinet design team suggested the bold green paint—a choice Russ and Erin admitted they probably wouldn't have selected themselves. Once the cabinets, flooring, countertops, and lighting were installed, it became one of their favorite elements of the remodel, adding warmth and personality without overwhelming the space.
The oversized island now serves as the centerpiece of the kitchen, providing abundant prep space, extra seating, and a natural gathering place for family and friends.

One of the most satisfying parts of this project is seeing how dramatically the home changed while remaining within its original footprint. Thoughtful design, quality craftsmanship, and carefully selected finishes created a kitchen that feels larger, brighter, and significantly more functional than the one it replaced.
